The unity of the opposition has been the rule rather than the exception

The leader of Primero Justicia spoke with users of El-Nacional.com on upcoming parliamentary elections, his view of the opposition and Leopoldo López. "We spend too much time talking about what the government wants to talk (Chavez) and that's a mistake. We must have more discipline and do not get out of the focus of people's problems"
Julio Andrés Borges has spent eleven years in public life, from driving a program called "The Country in Motion" to Venezolana de Television in 1998, and then another program called "Justice for All" in RCTV. At the same time, its civil organization, First Justice, became a political party and ran to him for a seat in the National Assembly, where he worked until 2005, when the opposition decided not to withdraw completely agree with the electoral rules of the moment.

El-Nacional.com , admits that this move was a mistake. But he also sees it as an example that opposition unity is possible. "[We achieved a unit] 100%", explains, "and unfortunately, many of those promoting the card today only promoted the removal of parliament and we know the outcome."

In that regard, Borges points out that despite different ideologies and visions, has achieved unity in the opposition" because we are a plural country, without division, without repression, without insult, without fear, where people can choose and grow. That was a major concerns of chat participants, because with the recent amendment to the Electoral Act, some argue that the ruling faction could win several seats without necessarily achieving a majority. For many, this unit is the only counter-attack against the ruling, which still manages to communicate with many of the popular sectors. But Borges is convinced not only that the entire opposition leadership will work to achieve that majority in the NA, but their message will reach the masses.

"The difference is that the public spend too much time talking about what he wants the government to talk (Chavez) and that's a mistake. We must have more discipline and do not get out of the focus of people's problems. In our country millions of Venezuelans go to bed without eating or out of work and we spend too much time talking about what the government wants us to speak: the Venice Film Festival, the bases in Colombia, Honduras and the follies of Chavez at the UN, or Margarita summit. But who speaks for the poor and needy in our country? It seems that we have left that field and only the government is wrong. "
Asked in this aspect, Borges said he believes that is living in a dictatorship" and it must be said clearly, "but could not stay on that alone. "The only thing that destroys a dictatorship is hope, hope for a better world, a different country, that's where we failed," he said. "We are good at complaining, but bad articles to open a door to the future. I go back to what I said before, transform despair into a collective ideal delivery, a party, an NGO ..."
In these elections in the NA, Borges believes that each case must be studied separately, and he cites the recent regional elections: César Pérez Vivas won a primary for governor of Tachira, Henrique Capriles Miranda won the election by poll; and Antonio Ledezma is mayor of Caracas by consensus. So, wants the next year the opposition will have about 5,500 candidates for the Assembly and Council, and that primaries are used only in those places where there are several strong leaders, he states that all sides would make them too expensive.
